Marlene Ann Skinner, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Marlene Ann Skinner, 80, of Earlville passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. She was born April 25, 1937 in Waterman, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Uvana Casey Hill. She married Harold T. Skinner on December 29, 1954 in Sycamore, IL. Marlene was a beautician in Earlville for many years. She was also a realtor for Hoenig-Bell. Marlene was an expert conversationalist, liked to play cards and games and she loved visiting with her family friends and neighbors over a cup of coffee. Harold and Marlene spent 8 wonderful years traveling all over the US in their motor home.

She is survived by her mother, Uvana Hill of Sandwich, IL; two sons, Dave Lynn Skinner of Sycamore, IL and Darren Misty Skinner of Earlville, IL; three grandchildren, Doug Erin, Ashley, and Zach; three great grandchildren, Olivia, Maddox, and Avery; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Hill, her husband of 52 years, Harold Skinner, and one son, Douglas Skinner.

A private Memorial Service will be held in Marlene’s honor immediately following the visitation. Visitation will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville. Harry Patrick “Pat” Fleming, Sr., Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Harry Patrick “Pat” Fleming, Sr., 83, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday, July 3 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.

Pat was born May 20 1936, in Ottawa, to Harry “Buster” and Mary Ellen (Hanlon) Fleming. In 1957, he married Dixie D. Ryan of Tonica, who preceded him in death in 2017. Later, he married Pat Roberts of Streator.

He was employed as a truck driver and drove for Ottawa Cartage Inc., J.P. Wetherby, and LaSalle County Asphalt. He was a Charter and Lifetime member of Ottawa River Rescue. He was a previous committee member of Boy Scout Troop #44, member of the Marseilles Lion’s Club, The National Rifle Association, and Teamster’s Local #722. Pat loved spending time in his garage and watching the canoers come down the Fox River. He was known as the “Old Man at the River.”

Pat is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lynn (Eric) Yacko of Grand Ridge; three sons, Harry P. “Rick” Fleming Jr. of Clinton, Gerald M. “Mick” and John R. “Dick” Fleming, both of Ottawa; and five grandchildren, Kristin (Cain) Damron, Michael (Katie), and Harry Patrick Fleming III, and Joshua and Emily Yacko.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, JoAnn Stevens; one brother, John Holland; and one nephew, Ronald L. “Chief” Fleming.

Memorials may be directed to Ottawa River Rescue or the Marseilles Lions Club.

Pat was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in the Shrine of Rest, Sanctuary of Faith.

Leonard E. Lock, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Leonard E. Lock, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, January 24, at Aperion Care Nursing Home in Marseilles. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Friday July 19, at Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. John Crist, officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Leonard was born in Ottawa to Leonard and Louise (Haupt) Lock on November 15, 1935. He received his B. S. Degree from the University of Iowa worked in the insurance business. Leonard was in the Army Reserves and later served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, and the LaSalle County Historical Society.

He is survived by his sister Norma Willy of Ottawa and a brother Vernon Lock of Glendale, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles R. Rice, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Charles R. Rice, 67, long time member of the Ottawa Police Department, died Friday afternoon, May 30, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, in the Mueller Funeral Home, in Ottawa, with the Rev. Mark Geisler, Pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, officiating. Military rites will follow the service. Burial will be on a later date. Visitation will from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Chuck was born on February 27, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to Charles and Delores (Miller) Rice. He was a graduate of Adams High School in South Bend. Chuck served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1974, when he joined the Ottawa Police Department. He married Elizabeth Jackson on December 12, 1979, in Ottawa. He was a member of the Illinois Police Association, Police Benevolent and Protective Assn., American Legion Post 33 and the Harley Owners Group. His service and commitment to the Air Force and as a police officer were very important to him. Chuck was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Beth; children: JoAnne (Eric) Cattell, of Williamstown, NJ, Daniel Rice, of West Deptford, NJ, and Amy Rice, of Ottawa, 3 grandchildren, his father Charles (Elaine) Rice, of South Bend, IN, and one brother Richard (Teresa) Rice, of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores, 2 granddaughters, a son Robert “Robb” and a nephew. Memorials may be directed to the family or the donor’s choice.

Charles was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Phyllis (Boyd) Myer, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Phyllis (Boyd) Myer, 87, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 26, 2019 at Heritage Woods in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Burial will follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Phyllis was born on July 27, 1931 in Streator, to William H. and Lydia (Walling) Boyd, Sr. She married Everett Myer on November 16, 1958 in Grand Ridge.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mike) McDonald, of Ottawa, 3 grandchildren, Mike (Stacy) McDonald, Kristin McDonald, and Michelle (Wayne) Johnson, and 2 great grandchildren, Mikayla McDonald, and Reed Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett, on February 28, 2014, and her 2 brothers, William and Wallace Boyd.

Phyllis has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
