Wilma (Jacobowski) Harmon, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

On June 7, 2018 at the age of 89, Wilma (Jacobowski) Harmon was reunited with her family and friends who have gone before her. She was born to Lena and Joseph Jacobowski on February 3, 1929 in Peru, Illinois. Her parents, brothers-Joey Jacobowski, Lenny Jacobowski, and father Raymond Jacobowski preceded her in death.

She married Bernard Harmon and they had four children. Her husband, and sons Danny Harmon and Donald Harmon also preceded her in death.

Surviving family members are her sister, Cathy Ferguson of Indiana; sister, Rita Krewer of West Dundee, Illinois; daughter, Donna (Al) Rollins of Hudson, Illinois; son, Dave (Shirley) Harmon of Yellville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Edwards and Amy (Chris) Kirchner of Hudson, Illinois, and Joey Clair and Jimmy Clair of South Carolina. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

She treasured three things in life-faith in God, family, and friends. Wilma was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa until recent years when she moved to Normal, Illinois to be with her daughter and her family. She always put her family first and having friends and being a good friend was very important to her even to the end. She was known as a “social butterfly” while living at Blair House Retirement Home and then Heritage Nursing Home, both in Normal, Illinois.

In lieu of memorials, her wish would be that you do a kind deed in her memory.

A special thank you to the staff of Heritage Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois and Transitions Hospice for their constant care and support.

Services will be held at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, June 12 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 – 12:30 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Wilma has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

Nancy Rublaitus, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Nancy Rublaitus, 86, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 1:30 – 2:30, one hour prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10:00 Monday, June 11, 2018 in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Nancy was born April 28, 1932 in Norway, Illinois to Jesse and Nina (Nelson) Jelm. She married Laverne “Mike” Rublaitus on Sept 19, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa; he passed away February 12, 2018.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Susan) Rublaitus and Jay (Karen) Rublaitus; two grandchildren, Justin (Tiffany) Rublaitus and Megan (Wes) Page; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Alexa, and Elias.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Neil Neurohr, Ken and Gene Thompson, Chuck Heerhold, Keith Carlson and sons Cody and Gage, and Justin Rublaitus.

In lieu of flowers or plants memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Judy E. Breuer, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

OTTAWA – Judy E. Breuer, age 60, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at her home.

Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Oakwood Memorial Park with Pastor Kevin Donoho officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Judy was born September 18, 1957 in Ottawa, the daughter of Robert and Beverly (Cilla) Breuer.  Surviving are her sister, Cheryl (Jerry) Mettille of Ottawa; a brother, Scott (Kelly) Breuer, of Serena; her step-father, Earl Murphy of Ottawa; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Anthony Mettille, Michelle (Mettille) Duttlinger, Shannon (Mettille) Smith, Tanya (Hardersen) Pool, Jeremy Hardersen, Joshua Jonassen, Dawn (Mettille) Rick, and Jeremiah and Jeff Mettille; several great nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Andrew Robert Patterson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cynthia Jonassen and Sandra Cummings; and a brother, Kent Cummings.

Judy graduated from Kishwaukee Community College with an Associates of Science degree.  She had been employed by MotorWheel Corporation in Mendota as well as Westclox.  In her leisure, Judy enjoyed science fiction, writing, drawing, and painting.

James Grant Lair, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

James Grant Lair, 91, of Mendota died May 28, 2018 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa with military rites by the American Legion. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services on June 2 at the funeral home.

James was born Nov. 2, 1926 in Jacksonville to Harold William and Frances (Goodman) Lair. He married Margaret Sevier on March 13, 1946 in Rhode Island.

Survivors include his wife of Mendota; three sons, James (Sharon) Lair of Sacramento, Calif., William (Cheryl) Lair of Charleston and John (MaryEllen) Lair of Streator; two daughters, Barbara (Mike) Bokus of Mendota and Judy Lair of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Jr., Jack, Harry and Erle.

James was a graduate of Bradley University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed by Wahfelds Manufacturing Co. as a sales representative. He was a member of Mendota First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Ottawa Jaycees and The Honor Flight.

Memorials may be directed to Shriner’s Crippled Children.

James has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
