Marvelle Irene (Johnson) Robinson, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Marvelle Irene (Johnson) Robinson, 92, of Ottawa, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at her home at Brookdale-Urbana.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Crossbridge Community Church in Ottawa with Rev. Dick Schaill, of Mendota Church of the Nazarene, officiating. A visitation will be held one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Marvelle was born December 25, 1929 in Ottawa, IL to Arndt and Elsie (Mangles) Johnson. She was the eldest of three siblings.

A Registered Nurse, Marvelle worked at Sheridan Correctional Center, Libby Owens Ford and in the hospital and various skilled nursing facilities in and around Ottawa. She graduated from Silver Cross Hospital Nursing School in 1951. Marvelle attended Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene (Crossbridge) and Mendota Church of the Nazarene. A faithful Christian, skilled knitter, and world traveler, Marvelle was an active member of the Ravlin Congregate Center in Ottawa where she helped establish a weekly bible study in her later years and where she was a good neighbor and friend to all. She also contributed to her community in Brookdale-Urbana where she helped start a weekly Letter Writer’s Club.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brent Robinson of Urbana (Lindsay Anderson), and both her siblings: Calvin Johnson, brother, Jacksonville, IL, and Esther (Johnson) Hanson and John Hanson, sister and brother-in-law, Bourbonnais, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Richard Rosique.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration.

Terri S. Jacobson, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Terri S. Jacobson, 58, of La Salle, passed away December 27, 2021 in St. Margaret’s Health in Peru.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Zion United Church of Christ in Peru with Rev. Alex Garncarz officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be private in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Terri’s funeral arrangements.

Terri was born in Ottawa on February 11, 1963 to Hank and Ellen (Haff) Fassett. She married David Jacobson at 1St Methodist Church of Ottawa on January 4, 2003.

She was a bookkeeper at Zukowski Law Office in Peru since 2006.

Terri was a member of Zion United Church of Peru. She enjoyed crafts, being with her friends and church family. She loved watching her son Matt bowl.

Terri is survived by her husband Dave of La Salle and her son Matt (Catherine Saddler) Jacobson of La Salle. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.

John McCormick, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

John McCormick, 74, of Spring Valley, passed away Wednesday, January 5,2022 at the Henry Rehab and Nursing Center.

There will not be any services held. The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting the family.

John was born on November 11, 1947 in Ottawa to John and Audrey (Jones) McCormick. He married Mary Ann Mennie on December 19, 1970 at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. Mary Ann died on October 21, 2013.

He was a graduate of Marquette High School in 1965 and then I.V.C.C. He worked at Sauer-Danfoss for 35 years. He was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion, Spring Valley V.F.W. and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and Germany from June of 1969 to March of 1972.

John is survived by 3 sons, David (Susan) McCormick of Spring Valley; John (Holly) McCormick of Peru; Douglas (Melissa) McCormick of Spring Valley; 6 grandchildren, Grace, Creed, Reason, Ever, Revel and Jaycee; brother, William McCormick of South Bend, Indiana; sister, Jeani Farrell of Ottawa; his step-mother, Jane McCormick of Ottawa; step-brother, Gary (Diane) Schwerotfeger of California; step-sister, Linda (Mike) Musallem of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann and his parents.

He was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Mary Ann (Mennie) McCormick, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Mary Ann (Mennie) McCormick, 63, of Spring Valley, died Monday, October 21, 2013, in her home, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 24, at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. The Rev. Paul Meismer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.

Mrs. McCormick was born on February 26, 1950 in Rockford to Vernon and Anita Mennie. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1969. She married John F. McCormick Jr. on December 19, 1970 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ottawa.

Mrs. McCormick had worked for St. Margaret’s Hospital in the dietary department. Mary Ann was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and President of the Maria Society of the church; she also was a former C.C.D. teacher at the church. She was a member of the Spring Valley Democrat Women’s Club, serving as President, and she was a former member of the Hall Booster Organization. Mary Ann also bowled in the Wednesday night mixed league at the Illinois Valley Superbowl in Peru.

She is survived by her husband, John F. McCormick Jr., of Spring Valley; three sons, Dave (Susan) of Spring Valley, John III (Holly) of Peru, and Douglas (Ricci) of Chicago; four grandchildren, Grace, Creed, Reason, and Ever McCormick; a brother, Frank Picchl of Ottawa; mother-in-law, Jane McCormick of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Jean Farrell, of Ottawa; brother-in-law, William McCormick of South Bend, IN; step-brother, Gary (Diane) Schwerdtfeger; and step-sister, Linda (Mike) Musallem, both of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Francis McCormick; mother-in-law, Audrey McCormick; brother-in-laws, Jack Farrell and Dave Cunico; and step-brother, Robert Schwerdtfeger.

She was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Patricia Anne (Maubach) Bohler, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Patricia Anne (Maubach) Bohler, 83, of Minooka, IL, passed away Sunday April 10, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 14, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 11 to 1:00 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Patricia was born July 1, 1938, in , Manville, IL, to Ralph and Jean (Davis) Maubach . She married William Bohler on June 18, 1960 at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Pat graduated from Ottawa High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in English from Saint Francis in Joliet. She was a Librarian at the Shorewood Library for over 30 years and was instrumental in finding the libraries current, long-time home. She was a proud member Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), loved books, clocks and Steinbach Nutcrackers. She was a tenacious genealogist, an incredible mother and grandmother, and a friend to many.

She is survived by her five sons, Michael, William Jr., Kurt (Lisa), Peter (Marie) and Jason Bohler, four grandchildren Brandon, Matthew, Blake and Sabrina and her brother David (Maggie) Maubach

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a son Fredric.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.

Jeffrey H. Mettille, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Jeffrey H. Mettille, 63, of Streator, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.

Jeffrey was born July 20, 1959 in Ottawa to James and Evelyn (Eurich) Mettille. He was loved by many and worked as a poker and amusement game technician for over 30 years. He enjoyed bike rides with his daughter, building model train sets, having breakfast and coffee with his friends, and working on electronics. He loved his daughter and granddaughters more than anything.

He is survived by his daughter, Emily Mettille, of Florida and three granddaughters, Isis, Davielynn, and Annaleise.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Mettille, Jr.; and a sister, Judy Hartstrom.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

William J. Denton, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

William J. Denton, 71, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday April 1, 2022 in Bradenton, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 9, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral home in Ottawa, with Rev. David Kipfer, Pastor of Ottawa Catholic Parishes, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.

Bill was born on January 14, 1951 in Danville, IL to Stanley Cecil and Stella (Howard) Denton. He married Julie E. Hepner on June 29, 1996 in Nevada. Bill was in the Title Industry for over 40 years. He managed LaSalle County Title Company (Chicago Title) for over 20 years, 15 of which he owned and operated the business. In his younger years Bill loved working with horses and trained and showed dogs. Bill enjoyed golfing, spending time in Florida, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. His morning coffee with friends was one of his favorite parts of the day and those who knew Bill best knew you needed to be prepared for his sarcasm and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife, Julie of Ottawa; four children, Angel (Jim) Demoss of Ottawa, Ryan (Debby) Denton of Ottawa, Amanda (Brett) Lockas of Ottawa and Amy (Chad) Gross of Ottawa; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Stanley Denton.

Pallbearers will be Jay Hepner, Brett Lockas, Chad Gross, Jim Demoss, Bob Willing, and John Ewan.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Gordon Russell Meyer, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Gordon Russell Meyer, 81, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Cheri Stewart, Pastor, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Gordon was born on August 14, 1940 in Oak Park, IL to Russell and Phyllis (Harsh) Meyer. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School and received his undergraduate from North Central College. Gordon married Nancy Copeland on October 15, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church, in Ottawa. He was a civil engineer with the Illinois Highway Department for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Meyer of Sarasota, FL and Ottawa, IL; a son, Craig (Steven Mayo) Meyer of Winterpark, FL; a son-in-law, Chad (Jenny) Peruba of Geneva, IL; two grandchildren, Emily (Joshua) Poythress of Chicago and Matthew Peruba of Chicago; and a brother, Gilbert (Marcia) Meyer of Deer Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Gail Peruba.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

Robert D. Satterfield, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Robert D. Satterfield, age 81 of Hazelhurst, WI and formerly of Ottawa, IL died on Tuesday, April 21st at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI. Bob was born on October 14, 1938 in Ottawa, IL the son of Cecil and Doris (nee Cramer) Satterfield. Bob worked for Libby Owens Ford and was self employed installing septic systems. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his companion Judith Robinson and by 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon Ball. Cremation took place and private family services will be held.

He was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park, in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Judith Anne Robinson, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Beloved and caring family matriarch, Judith Anne Robinson, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, in the comfort of her son’s and daughter-in-law’s home, on March 27, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was known as “Judy” to her close friends and family, who will carry on her spirit and love of life.
She was born to Carl Holloway and Iris Crump on August 19, 1939. After graduating High School she met her husband Joel Robinson. They started a family together having two children. Thereafter Joe met an untimely death and Judy became a strong matriarch raising her children to adulthood. Later in life she met Bob Satterfield, who recently preceded her in death. They spent 47 great years together, snowmobiling, fishing, traveling (especially to Florida) and hosting out of town guests frequently.
Judy was always a family woman. She was preceded in death by a cherished granddaughter, Katie. She is survived by her beloved brother and sister, Richard (Mitzi) Holloway of Streator, Illinois and Joanne (George) Harris of Ottawa, Illinois. She is survived by her much loved children Dennis (Sarah) Robinson of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and Darcy Rich, of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin.
Her legacy will be carried on by her dear grandchildren, Joel (Sam) Robinson of Wisconsin, Cassie (Joe) Penate of California, and Miranda (Cody) Rathmann of North Carolina. She will continue to watch over her six great grandchildren, which she adored.
Funeral Service and viewing will be held April 1, 2022, to honor her memory at the Mausoleum of Oakwood Memorial Park, 2405 Champlain Street, Ottawa IL, 61350. Viewing at 2pm and Service to follow at 3pm.
