Ruth E. (Barnett) Sesto, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Ruth E. (Barnett) Sesto, 81, of Ottawa, died on Wednesday evening, December 7, 2016 at the Ottawa Pavilion.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Pastor Mike Weakley of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home. Private services will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Ruth was born on February 14, 1935 in Ottawa to Roland and Elsie (Cummings) Barnett. She married Francis “Barney” Sesto on August 26, 1953 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. Ruth was the Supervisor for the Circulation Department at the Times for 19 years and also delivered Mobile Meals for the Community Hospital of Ottawa.

Ruth was an avid gardener traveling many miles to find the right plant for her beautiful flower beds. She loved watching sports following her Bulls, Ottawa and Marquette teams, but most of all watching her family in all sports and activities. She and Barney could often be found at a ball field in the area, many times with no family playing, just to catch a good game and enjoy a bag of popcorn. Her spirit and thoughtfulness will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Barney, 2 sons Jay (Alicia) Sesto, of Ottawa and Rick (Tami) Sesto, of LaSalle, 3 grandchildren, Jill Lemrise, of Phoenix, AZ, Brian (Brooke) Sesto, of Marseilles, and Cory (Kristen) Sesto, of Ottawa, 2 great grandchildren, Kylie and Addison Sesto, a sister Elaine (Donald) Farmer, of Ottawa, and a brother Robert (Delores) Barnett, of Utica.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family for charities to be determined.

Ruth has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Seasons.

Tammi L. (Wold) Rideout, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Tammi L. (Wold) Rideout, 40, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at her parents’ home.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday, December 12 at the Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Rich Fassig, pastor of Serena Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-5pm Sunday, December 11, and one hour prior to the services on Monday, at the funeral home.

Tammi was born June 15, 1976 in LaSalle, to Gerald and Deborah (Brooks) Wold. Tammi enjoyed life and loved doing things with her BFF, Lindsey. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, and she loved her flowers. Through her battles the past 11 months, she enjoyed doing crafts and making fairy gardens with Khloe. Her sons’s football games were something she looked forward to every year. She loved watching him play!

Tammi shared a bond with her little buddy Ethan and looked forward to his visits. Her little peeps Penelope and Jack brought great joy into her life and got her through some hard days.

She is survived by her son, Cody Fleming of Ottawa; her parents, Jerry and Debbie Wold of Ottawa; and a brother, Douglas Wold of Joliet. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Janice Wold of Ottawa; and her maternal grandmother, Elaine Brooks of Ottawa.

Pallbearers will be Mark and Tim Wold, Jordan Abernathy, Jacob and Kyle Vanda, and Travis Dougherty.

Tammi has been laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.

Wesley R. Stohr, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

OTTAWA – Wesley R. Stohr, age 46, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor David Daniel officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Wesley was born February 17, 1970 in Ottawa, the son of Wesly F. and Elizabeth A. (Mathews) Stohr. He is survived by his parents Wesly and Carol Stohr of Ottawa and Elizabeth Hawkins of England. Also surviving are three sons, Joshua Stohr of La Salle, and Jacob and Joseph Stohr, both of Troy Grove; a grandson, Gage Stohr; and a sister, Leslie Stohr of Ottawa.

Wesley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He loved anything to do with furniture and upholstery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Wesley has been laid to rest in the Garden of Psalms.

Ella M. (Housby) Davis, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Ella M. (Housby) Davis, 82, of LaSalle, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa with Pastor Steve Adamson of Faith Assembly of God, Peru officiating. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Friday at Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle.

Mrs. Davis was born May 11, 1934 in LaSalle to John and Gertrude (Bernard) Housby. She married Floyd Davis in 1953.

Mrs. Davis was a former member of the Prisoners of War Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle and was a retired certified nurse’s aide.

Survivors include one son, Virgil (Kenda) Davis of Severn, MD; four grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Potter of York, PA, Jennifer (Brandon) Martin of Waldorf, MD, Michael (Mary) Davis of Granville and Mindy Davis of Peru; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra (Kenneth) Bland of Cherry, Nancy (Jerry) Bejester of Granville, Hazel Conrad of LaSalle; four brothers, Robert (Lela) Housby of Fulton, James Housby of LaSalle, Edward (Margaret) Housby of Rock Island and John (Carol) Housby of Nevada and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd on May 2, 2002; one son, Floyd Davis and five sisters, Jackie Boyd, Gertrude Garncars, Melva Dilling, Thelma Conrad and Margaret Ewing.

Mrs. Davis has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

Barbara Jean Haverstock, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

OTTAWA — Barbara Jean Haverstock died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Hills of Cumberland Village in Aiken, S.C.

Bobbie, as she was known, was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Ogden, Utah, to parents Frank Yentzer and Helen (Hulse) Geschwind.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1939. She attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo.

She married John Frederick “Fritz” Gerding in January 1942. During World War II, they lived in Fresno and Sacramento, Calif., and Kingman, Ariz. They had two children, John and Nicola.

They returned to Ottawa in 1945, where she lived for the next 50 years. In January 1956, she married William Haverstock. They had one daughter, Susan. Together they owned the Steak House restaurant. In 1995, Bobbie moved to Augusta, Ga.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Haverstock, of Aiken, S.C., and Nicola Stanke, of Kansas City, Mo.; her sister, Patricia Gerding, of Naples, Fla., and Ottawa; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A reflection on Bobbie’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Oakwood Memorial Park, Shrine of Rest Mausoleum,Chapel of the Good Shepard.

To commemorate her love of reading, she requested that memorials in her name be sent to the Reddick Library, 1010 Canal St., Ottawa, IL 61350.

Bobbie has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Hope.

Joseph Zuk, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Joseph Zuk, 92, of Pontiac, formerly of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Pontiac Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

Private services were held. He is entombed at Oakwood Memorial Park. Ottawa Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

Joe has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Prayer.

Jerry Guysens Sr., Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Jerry Guysens Sr., 73, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Ottawa Pavilion.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am, Wednesday, November 30 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Amazing Grace played at 11, ending the visitation. Burial will be private, at Oakwood Memorial Park, following the visitation.

Jerry was born January 16, 1943, in Ottawa to Leo and Celina (Devine) Guysens. He married Jerilyn Shea December 8, 1962 at the Evangelical Reformed Church in LaSalle.

Jerry worked at Rudy’s and Eagles as a meat cutter, and then retired from Libby-Owens-Ford after 28 years of service. He loved woodworking and fishing, especially in Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Jerry Guysens Jr. and Kristi Guysens; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Lauren Denny.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Leon, in infancy.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Arnette J. Lowman, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Arnette J. Lowman, 93, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

With respect for Arnette’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park. Ottawa Funeral Home will be taking care of the arrangements.

Arnette was born February 22, 1923 in Ottawa, Illinois to Colin and Isabell (Allen) Campbell. In 1945 she married Theron Beguin; he passed away in 1952. In 1958 she married LeRoy Lowman; he passed away in 1988.

Throughout her long life Arnette had a great love for music and laughter. She worked as a waitress and retail clerk in Ottawa for many years and after retiring volunteered at Community Hospital of Ottawa, and A Servants Heart in Ottawa.

She is survived by her children, Fred Beguin, Suzanne Beguin, Ronald (Debbie) Beguin, Robert (Andrea Meyer) Beguin, and Faith (Dan) McNamara, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, having a special bond with Bobby Beguin, Beau Beguin, Sara (Brandon) Countryman, Matt (Michelle), Jake (Andrea) and Meghan McNamara.

She is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Theron Beguin and LeRoy Lowman; and her son, Richard Beguin.

Cheryl Link, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Cheryl Link, 75, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Cheryl was born July 21, 1941 in Ottawa, Illinois to Harland and Marjorie (Duffy) Battles. She married Philip Link III on July 25, 1959 in Ottawa, Illinois; he passed away September 12, 1993. She was a past member of Shoreline Boat Club, and the ladies card club for 50 years. Cheryl loved spending time with her children, she was involved with many of their school activities when they were younger including the PTA. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren; especially uno. She enjoyed sharing her passion for cooking and canning with her children.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Lisa) Link, Todd (Mary Graffis) Link, Tina (Timothy) Bennett, and Terisa (Jamie) King; twelve grandchildren, Christopher (Tiffany) Link, Heidi Link, Chad (Kinsey) Link, Heather (Mark Christensen) Link, Brittany (Matt Olson) Bennett, Alexis Bennett, Paul (Shannon Carmean) Mertel, Michalah (Riley Stoneking) Mertel, Keegan King, Makenzie King, Rilee King, and Kaylee King; nine great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Judy Newbury, Jerry (Jane) Battles, and Dan (Tracy) Battles.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Philip; and her brother-in-law, Bill Newbury.
