Betty Jean Hoffman, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Betty Jean Hoffman, 87, of LeSueur, Minnesota, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Father Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00, two hours prior to the services, on Thursday at the funeral home. She will be buried at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Betty Jean was born May 9, 1928 in Ottawa, to Jess and Vera (Houchin) Carter. She married Leon Hoffman on April 17, 1947 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa; he passed away February 1, 1987.

Betty was a member of St. Francis Church.

She is survived by her sons, Leon (Barbara) Hoffman of LeSueur, MN; Daniel (Valeria) Hoffman of LeSueur, MN; and Donald (Donna) Hoffman of Galesburg, IL; one daughter, Nancy Hoffman of Mankato, MN; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; and two daughters, Teresa and Mary Hoffman.

Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Church.

Betty is laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Richard F. Blahut Jr., Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Richard F. Blahut Jr., 49, of Chicago, Illinois passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016.
Richard was born September 24, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois to Richard and Shirlee (Ranstrom) Blahut. He was a graduate from Columbia College; a writer and an artist.
He is survived by his mother Shirlee Riordan of Ottawa; and his one sister, Katherine (John Lethiot) Blahut of Ottawa.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be directed to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with his cremation rites.  Inurnment is in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Amelia Grace Anne Stone, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Amelia Grace Anne Stone, infant daughter of Adam Charles and Ashley Anne (Prichard) Stone was stillborn on Monday, March 14, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Graveside funeral services were held on Thursday morning, March 17, at Oakwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Ewing, officiating.

Amelia is laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Eloise M. (Williamson) Fike, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Eloise M. (Williamson) Fike, 91, formerly of Ottawa, died on Tuesday night, March 1, 2016 at the Dobson Plaza nursing home in Evanston.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 717 Chambers Street, Ottawa, IL, 61350, with Rev. David Ufkes, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Eloise was born on September 5, 1924 in rural Ottawa, to Willard L. and Belle (Stangeland) Williamson. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1942. Eloise married Robert E. Fike on June 16, 1946, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. She worked at Kline’s, Montgomery Ward and Rabenstein’s. Eloise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, LaSalle County Home Extension, and belonged to a hospital therapy group for 25 years.

She is survived by two children, Rhonda Sue (John) Jones, of Chicago and Randall E. (Beth) Fike, of Tequesta, FL, four grandchildren, Kristofer (Myriam) Jones, Kristen Jones and Troy and Ian Fike, and one great grandson, Owen Thomas Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, on October 16, 2011, a daughter in infancy, and 2 sisters, Lorraine Weitzel and Vera Boldt.

Pallbearers will be John Jones, Kristofer Jones, Brian Boldt, and Steve Boldt.

Roy D. Barnhart, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

BUCKNER – Roy D. Barnhart, 62, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in St. Louis University Hospital.

He was a truck driver by occupation.

He was a U.S. Marine.

Roy was born Aug. 18, 1950. His father was James Joseph Barnhart and his mother was Marion (Coan) Coleman. They preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Otis Coleman.

He was married to Sue (Butterfield) Barnhart and she survives of Buckner.

Survivors also include children, Justin Barnhart of Buckner, Tammy Miller of Buckner, Eric Barnhart of Oglesby, Jody Barnhart of Ina, and Roy Dale Barnhart Jr. of Buckner; 11 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, James Barnhart of Valier, Tony Barnhart of Pittsburg, Tina Claahan of LaSalle, Kelly Coleman of Valier, Shawn Coleman of LaSalle, Holly McLaughlin of LaSalle, and Sherry Hill Pheonix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Daniel Barnhart.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in Valier First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank Senter officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Elizabeth "Betty" DeCoursey, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Elizabeth “Betty” DeCoursey, 74, of Buffalo Grove, Illinois passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Belmont Village Senior Living in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on March 7, 2016 at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Betty was born August 12, 1941 in Ottawa, Illinois to Herbert and Eleanor (Underhill) Maier.  She married David DeCoursey on August 17, 1981 in Ottawa. He passed away November 25, 2010.

Betty was a member of the First Ottawa United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Randy (Kathy) DeCoursey of Arlington Heights; four grandchildren, Cameron, Lia, Sean and Danielle; two brothers, William (Carolyn) Maier of Peru, and Dick Maier of Morris; and fourteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Deanna Hutchinson.

Pallbearers will be Andy Maier, Mike Maier, Tony Maier, Steve Maier, Tyler Esselman, and Michael Underhill.

Donald John Meyers, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Donald John Meyers, 80, of Utica, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Funeral Services for Don will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. David E. Daniel officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at the Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with full military rites.

Don was born August 6, 1935, in Ottawa, to John and Harriet (Ward) Meyers.  He married Carol J. Nicholson on August 1, 1959, at Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Local 19, and Barber Shop Quartet. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, and also served on the Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Carol J.; one daughter, Brenda (Rick) Schomas of Marseilles; two sons, Gregory (Jennifer) Meyers of Winter Haven, Florida; and Glenn Meyers of Bay St. Louis, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy and Emily Meyers, Megan Meroni, Christopher, Clark, and Samantha Meyers, Nick (Amanda) Schomas, and Kailey Christine Schomas; 8 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Joann) Meyers of AZ; and four sisters, Evelyn Aska of Sycamore, Shirley Yednock of Florida, Sharon Nicholson of Utica, and Sandra (Joe) Stone of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Hickey.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Delores Marie (Johnson) Angell, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Delores Marie (Johnson) Angell, 97, of Ottawa, died on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Rivershores Rehabilitation Center in Marseilles.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Epworth United Methodist Church, with Rev. Carolyn Lukasick, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday March 1, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa and one hour prior to services at the church.

Delores was born on December 21, 1918 in Granville, to Harry R. and Marie (Hansen) Johnson. She married Edwin C. Angell on April 12, 1936, in Ottawa. Delores was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Lois Circle, Bowling Hall of Fame, AARP, and volunteered at Ryburn Hospital.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley Vernoy and Bette (Stanley) Krafft, both of Ottawa, 10 grandchildren, Debbie (Mark) Wheeler, Jeffrey Angell, Peggy (James) Reynolds, Steven (Mary) Angell, all of Ottawa, Vincent (Vicki) Vernoy, of Ohio, Timothy (Kelly) Angell of Minn., Robin Vernoy, of Ottawa, Daniel (Alvina) Vernoy, of Missouri, Scott (Sadie) Krafft, of Sycamore, and Todd (Abbie) Krafft, of Ottawa, 23 great grandchildren, 22 great – great grandchildren, a daughter in law, Theresa Angell, and 3 sisters in law, Flo Hertzner, Dolores Marshall and Marjorie Angell

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin on May 25, 1997, a son Gerald, 2 brothers Calvin and Harry Johnson, and 5 sisters, Alice Casey, Beverly Cunico, Beulah Eisert, Eleanor Bayuk, and Bernice Miner.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey and Steven Angell, Scott and Todd Krafft, Alex Hinrichs and Aaron Krafft.

Ruth B. Anderson, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Ruth B. Anderson, 97, of Ottawa passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Columba Church, with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Ruth was born July 28, 1918 in Streator to Joseph and Linnie (Kelly) Morse. She married Arthur W. Anderson February 9, 1935 at St. Mary’s Church in Streator; he passed away October 26, 1988.

Ruth was a member of St. Columba Church. She played bingo and yahtzee and also played steel guitar in Evelyn’s Islanders. She was spunky and loved camping and fishing in Valley View Acres in Cornell. Ruth loved to crochet and enjoyed spending time with her twin sister and best friend, Ruby, and with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Rorem; three grandchildren, Richard (Jody) White, Patti (Tony) Ferguson, and Joe Mance; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay Thomas, Garrett Aubry, and Tabor Aubry; and her furry friend, Coco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her twin sister, Ruby Zucker; and her brother Herbert Morse.

Pallbearers will be Tony Ferguson, Garrett and Tabor Aubry, Al Morse, Lester Zmolek, and Steve Young.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
