Ruben Santos M.D., age 81, longtime Spring Valley physician and resident, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home in Princeton, where he has resided for the past five years.

A visitation for Dr. Santos will be held Friday, December 9, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley.  A short funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Following services, cremation will be accorded, and Dr. Santos will be laid to rest in the Philippines and Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, IL at a later date.

Dr. Santos was born on June 4, 1941 in Laoag, Ilocas Norte, Philippines to Primo and Concepcion (Laborte) Santos. He married Sally Andres in the Philippines and they have celebrated 56 years of marriage together.

Dr. Santos was the owner of Valley Pathology, S.C. and served as a physician and pathologist for St. Margaret’s Hospital for over 38 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, of Princeton; his children, Patrick (Tracy) Santos of Hicksville, NY, Cindy (Scott) Etheridge of Murrieta, CA, and Dr. Eric (Joseph) Santos of Princeton; five grandchildren, Gabriella, Ethan, Benjamin, Brandon, and Julia; and his sister Leonora Miguel of the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ernesto Santos.
