Shirley Ann (Snyder) Davey, 92, of Ottawa, passed away on October 26, 2023 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Shirley was born in Waterloo, New York on October 4, 1931. Her parents were Winfield W. Snyder and Alice Barbara (Dougherty) Snyder from New York State. Shirley grew up in Seneca Castle, New York and graduated from Geneva N.Y. High School in 1949. She studied nursing at Auburn City Hospital, N.Y. State. She met and married Jim Davey in 1953. They lived in England where Jim was stationed as an U.S. Air Force Corpsman in a U.S. Military Hospital. They traveled in Europe and Ireland. Returning to the U.S.A. in December 1954; they settled in Ottawa, IL. Shirley volunteered when Opportunity School began and also with Easter Seal. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa where she was an Ordained Elder.
She is survived by her two children, Linda (Jim) Townsend, Mike (Barb) Davey; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Alice; her husband, Jim on October 1, 2016; and a brother.
She was laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper.
