John “Jack” F. Corrigan, age 79, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the LaSalle Veterans Home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 11th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Schmitt officiating. Military Honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will follow the service. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Jake Moyer, Paul Gaspar, Tony Francisco, Matt Ruhland, Jeff Spampanato, Lakota Meagher and Scott Gates. Honorary pallbearer will be Grayson Rick.
Jack was born September 4, 1943 in Streator, Illinois, a son of Arthur Joseph and Mary Arlene (Wallace) Corrigan. He married Vickie Alsvig July 5, 1992 in Ottawa. Surviving are his loving wife, Vickie; children, John J. Corrigan of Streator, Kristina M. (Paul Gaspar) Corrigan of Ottawa, JoDee (Scott) Gates of Loves Park, IL and Jeana Griffith of Peru. He also leaves grandchildren, Sonya (Matt) Ruhland, Jacob (Cecelia) Moyer, Lakota Meagher, Madalyn Halm, Johnathan Griffith, Jordan Corrigan, Amy Corrigan and William Corrigan; and great-grandchildren, Oliver Ruhland and Violet Ruhland. Jack is also survived by a brother, Frank (Carol) Corrigan of Ransom; a sister, Peggy (Frank) Francisco of Ransom; sisters-in-law Maria (Lynne) Alsvig of Ottawa and Connie (Art) Rick of Naplate; and a special cousin, Lorry Hertzner of Ottawa. His parents preceded him in death.
Jack was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Patrick’s Churches in Ransom and Seneca. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. Jack was a member of the Ottawa V.F.W. and American Legion. He had been employed at R.R. Donnelly in Dwight for 28 years. A hard worker, Jack would paint houses during the day while working the midnight shift at Donnelly’s. He and Vickie enjoyed playing Bingo and slots at Cabin Fever and would faithfully help his sister, Peggy paint wooden items for her various craft projects. Jack was a very patriotic man, but his greatest love was his entire family for which he devoted his life.

Jack has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Ten Commandments at Oakwood Memorial Park.
