Candace L. (Ratzloff) Gomes, 68, of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be private with Rev. Paul Banister, of Cornerstone Church of Sandwich, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. A public visitation for family and friends will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Candy was born on March 13, 1954 in Montebello, CA to Herman and Maxine (Carter) Ratzloff. She married Clark Gomes on January 18, 1974 in Burbank, California.
She is survived by her husband, Clark Gomes, of Ottawa; five children, Clark Gomes, of Montgomery, Christopher Gomes, of Sandwich, Corinne Gomes, of West Chicago, Cassandra Gilbert, of Ottawa, Caryn Kelley, of Huntington Beach, CA; five grandchildren; a brother, Drew Ratzloff; two sisters, Melissa Lapides and Ginger Fallesen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Maxine.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
Candace has been laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns at Oakwood Memorial Park.
