Gary Edward Myers, 68, of Ottawa passed away on Tuesday night, May 21, 2019 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. on Friday May 24, 2019 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Michael Driscoll, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Utica, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Gary was born on September 6, 1950 in LaSalle to Edward and Ann (Bregant) Myers. He was a graduate of Earlville High School. Gary married Sheila Anderson on November 26, 1983 in Ottawa. He worked for the LaSalle County Highway Dept. Gary was a member of the Earlville Country Club and AFSCME. Gary enjoyed golfing, reading, and playing cards, and loved his dogs Bella and Remi. He loved visiting with his friends and family. Gary always had a story to tell and loved making people laugh. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila, 3 children, Ryan (Kara) Rutherford, of Ottawa, James (Heather) Rutherford, of Augusta, ME, and Michelle (Brad) Bain, of Ottawa, 7 grandchildren, Christian, Brenna, Emiley, RJ, Billie, Corbyn, and Reid Rutherford, 2 sisters, Debbie (Mike) Kent and Betsy (Ron) Hutchinson, both of Earlville, sister-in-law, Debbie Myers, of Pekin, a niece and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard Myers.

Gary has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Seasons.
