William Robert Dooley, Sr., 92, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Pleasant View, in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. David Ufkes, Chaplain of Pleasant View, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. Due to current State of Illinois guidelines, face coverings will be required.

William was born on June 16, 1929 in Braceville, IL to Elmer and Christine (Wisneski) Dooley. He was a graduate of the class of 1947 at Streator High School, where he was also a member of the football team. William married Norma Wenninger on August 7, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Streator. He owned and operated Bill Dooley Shell Service for 41 years.

He is survived by four children, Diane Lynn (William) Plank of Findlay, Patricia Jean (Rick) Sarver of Marseilles, Cheryl Ann Dooley of Hamilton, MT and William Robert Dooley, Jr. of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Sarver, Brian (Brande) Plank, Neil (Ashley) Plank, Tim (Tracy) Sarver, Chris Sarver, and Nick Sarver; 12 great grandchildren, Wil, Eli, Evan, Ella and Ethan Plank and Katie Luke, Charlotte, Maggie, Korbin, Nolan, and Brooks Sarver; and a sister Jeanne Modesitt

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma, on November 27, 2010; a sister Doris Iverson; one brother; and two nephews, Allan Dooley and Billy Craig Modesitt.

Pallbearers will be Rick Sarver, Mike Sarver, Bill Plank, Brian Plank, Neil Plank, and Wil Plank.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

William has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
