Samuel D. Dwire, age 77, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 29th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. John Waugh officiating. Interment with Military Honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Samuel was born February 11, 1944 in Central City, Kentucky, the son of Ezra Cleaver and Anna Dwire. Surviving are his daughter, Valerie Rice; grandchildren, Casandra Dwire and Naylor Rice; great-grandchildren Christian Rice and Carter Dwire and a nephew, Kevin Dwire. He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Arledge.
Samuel was a member of the Sandy Ford Sportsman’s Club, Leonore. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, hunting, coin collecting and attending garage sales. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
Sam has been laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion.
