Darlene (Smith) Hendrickson Moore

Darlene Moore, of Seneca, IL, passed into Heaven on January 20, 2022, at home. Darlene was born on January 25, 1945, to Lloyd and Dorothy (Carver) Smith in Ottawa, IL. She married Lyle Hendrickson on January 17, 1976.

She is survived by her sons, David (Jackie) Peddicord of Spring Valley and Scott (Jennifer) Peddicord of Seneca; her step-daughters, Tamra Beach, Debbie Peifer, and Mary Kalk; her grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas Peddicord; several step-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Ness and her brother, Lloyd Smith and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend, Lyle Hendrickson.

Darlene retired as the Seneca High School Cafeteria Manager in May of 2005. She spent her retirement baking, cleaning houses, and helping others with projects, large and small.

Darlene was a friend to many, she didn’t know a stranger, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She especially loved animals and became a “cat lady” in her retirement. Her love for baking was enjoyed by many and will be greatly missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation beforehand with Pastor Kevin Garner officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Ottawa following the funeral services. Memorials may be directed to Pet Project, Inc. of LaSalle County or Packs for Pals in Seneca.

Darlene has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
