Charles J. “Chuck” Gamons, Jr., 79, of Ottawa passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, October 8 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Caster officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Chuck was born November 9, 1941 in Ottawa to Charles J. and Shirley M. (Bayer) Gamons, Sr. He married Sue Brue in 1960, and together they had four children. He then married Frances Brozak on September 17, 1999.

Chuck worked at Libby Owens Ford for 34 years before retiring in December 2001. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, and watching scary movies and wrestling. Everyone who knew and loved him will miss his jokes and sense of humor the most.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Fran; three children, Joseph (Gina) Gamons of AZ, Guy Gamons of Chicago, and Kelly (Ron) Ansteth of Mendota; three grandchildren, Tyler Gamons, Madison and Noah Ansteth; four step children, Jason (Carrie) Freeman of TN, Edward (Janice) Freeman of TX, Connie (Jim) Myre of Ottawa, and Francie (John) Cain of Ottawa; eight step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy (Phil) Carr; two nephews, Phil (Nancy) and Curt (May) Carr; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Shirley; and his daughter, Debbie in 1968.

Pallbearers will be Ron Ansteth, John Cain, Jim Myre, Jason Freeman, Mark Dobberstein, and Robert DeWig. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, and Noah.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
