Florence Dammann, 93, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, November 6 at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 pm, Sunday, November 5 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 12:45. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Florence was born January 12, 1924 in Naplate to Stanley and Catherine (Siminski) Wielgopolan. She married Jurgen Dammann on October 7, 1950 in St. Mary’s Church in Naplate; he passed away January 3, 2012.

Florence was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, David (Lynda) Dammann of Lombard and Dennis (Patti) Dammann of Naperville; one daughter, Carol (Kraig) Pitstick of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Adam) Faupl, Brad (Courtney) Pitstick, Kimberly Gossett, Kevin (Stephanie) Dammann, Megan (Mike) Carroll, Kristin (Mike) Diakoumis, and Nicole (Rafael) Montes; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward and Ray Wielgopolan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Jerry; seven sisters, Anastasia Wielgopolan, Mary Malik, Helen Geiger, Sophie Micklos, Louise Washko, Henrietta Ohlendorf, and Josephine O’Berto; and three brothers, Stanley, Steven, and Francis Wielgopolan.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Dammann, Brad Pitstick, Mike Diakoumis, Kristin Diakoumis, Adam Faupl, and Tim Wielgopolan.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Church or the family.

Florence has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
