Gerald R. Weitzel, 66, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Morris Hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, April 15 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.
Gerry was born May 21, 1950 in Ottawa to William A. and Lorraine A. (Williamson) Weitzel. In 1968, he married Vickie J. Schinkey of Ottawa who preceded him in death in 2010.
He was a member of Carpenters Local 195 for 45 years. He enjoyed guitars, traveling, his family and his grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by one daughter, Crystal (Mike) Siegmann of Granville; one son, Timothy (Brenda) Weitzel of Marseilles, seven grandchildren, Cierra and Caylee Russell, Tyler, Nathan and Adam Weitzel and Jaden and Zackery Siegmann; his friend and companion, Bonnie Childs of Marseilles; and one brother, Dennis (Judy) Weitzel of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vickie; one daughter, Barbara Russell; and one brother, Aaron Weitzel.
Pallbearers will be, Tyler, Nathan, and Adam Weitzel, Denny Russell, Mike Siegmann and Don Schinkey. Zachery Siegmann will be an honorary pallbearer.
