James Davey, 85, of Ottawa, died peacefully Saturday morning, October 1, 2016 at Pleasant View in Ottawa. A private family service is being planned for a later date at Oakwood Memorial Park.  Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

James was born on January 16, 1931 in Tonica to James A. and Florence K. (Lohr) Davey. He married Shirley Ann Snyder on May 9, 1953. at St. Paul’s Parish in Ruislip, England.
Jim graduated from Ottawa High School and attended the University of Illinois. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1954 as a Medical Corpsman stationed in England. Jim retired as a glassworker from L.O.F. in 1988. He was a member and ordained elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Ottawa American Legion Post 33. James was inducted into the Ottawa Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1997. He was President of Financial Plus Credit Union serving for 18 years until 1984. He was a past president of Folk Valley, and served as the Senior Citizen Commission President from 2001 to 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, one daughter Linda Lee (James) Townsend of Ottawa, one son, James Michael (Barb) Davey of Ottawa, five grandchildren; Jeff Townsend, Jamie Graham, Wesley, Joey, and Brian Davey, and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Douglas Davey

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa Building Fund.

James has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
