HANOVER PARK – Kevin Patrick Cassidy, 53, of Hanover Park, Illinois formerly of Ottawa, Illinois passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 15th at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. Kevin courageously battled a fast-moving aggressive cancer that claimed his life much too early. Kevin was beloved by his parents Jack and Barbara and his brothers and sister, Tom (Cindy), Connie O’Brien, Mike as well as Lynn Cassidy, wife of his late brother John who lost his fight to ALS in January of this year. He was adored Uncle Bernie to Kelsey, Kara and Conor Cassidy, Kevin, Mike and Joe Cassidy, Cassidy and Danny O’Brien and Jack and Cole Cassidy. An ardent sports fan, Kevin loved the Bears, White Sox, and playing golf, but his special love was for Notre Dame and the football games he attended with his father. Kevin cherished his family and friends and was considered a best friend by many. He graduated from OHS and Lake Forrest College, Lake Forrest, Illinois where he was a member of the varsity basketball team that still holds the record for total wins in a season. He was employed at Used Solutions Machine Tool Company in McHenry, Illinois. Kevin was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be on Friday, November 18th at Gladfelter Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Naplate on Saturday, November 19th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the ALS foundation. A private memorial service was held at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa IL.

Kevin is laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
