John “Jack” Alexander, 76, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

John was born September 5, 1938 in Ottawa, Illinois to Ruble and Muriel (Ugland) Alexander. He retired from Natural Gas Pipeline, and then held various positions with the City of Ottawa and area farmers during harvest season.

Jack was a great guy who enjoyed working; he would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family; especially going to Texas for the holidays.

He is survived by one daughter, Dawn Henderson, three grandchildren, Heather Galloway and her husband Adam, Stacey and Thomas Hungerford; three great grandchildren, Destiny Weast, Kloey and Haley Galloway; and one sister, Karen Taylor. Sandy Battistini was his closest friend and she was always there for him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Gary Erickson, Rusty Wells, John Boe, Dennis Leamy, Adam Galloway, and Thomas Hungerford.

Memorials may be directed to Ottawa Pavilion or the local animal shelter.

Jack is laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion.
