Carl Formhals, 87, of La Salle, formerly of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at St. Margaret Hospital Spring Valley.

Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00am Saturday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services.

Carl was born July 3, 1928 in Streator, Illinois to Carl and Caroline (Dietrich) Formhals. He married Charlotte (Molinoski) Aldrich on July 9, 1977 in Ottawa.

Carl retired from LOF. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and past commander, Military Honor Guard, and the Moose. Carl was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in Korean during the war. He was a Medical Corpsman and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (Mike Murphy) Aldrich of Streator and Betty (John Lenac) Weishaar of Marseilles; his brother, Jesse (Gloria) Formhals of Joliet; four grandchildren, Vicki Apperson, Kayla and Jarrod Weishaar and Deena Johnson; three great grandchildren, Raven Cox, Joshua Beardsley and Dylan LaBuff; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte; one daughter, Gail Aldrich; two sisters, Rolene Posner and Dorothea Formhals.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Weishaar, Mike Murphy, Dan Apperson, Dave Brewer, Joe Formhals, and Clarence Vogel.

Memorials may be directed to his family or the Veterans Home in LaSalle.

Carl is laid to rest in the Garden of Psalms.
