Hans Kandell, 81, of Ottawa, died on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Duane Kaufman, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, where full Military Rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Hans was born on December 22, 1932 in Berlin, Germany to Erich and Margarete (Rosen) Kandell. He moved to America from Germany when he was 16. He married Roberta Nolte on May 28, 1960 in Tinley Park. Hans was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. He was a purchasing manager at the American National Bank in Chicago until his retirement. Hans loved to build military miniatures, one of which will be going into the Norway, IL Museum.
He is survived by his wife Roberta, of Ottawa, 2 sons, Gary and Doug Kandell, both of Oshkosh, WI and 2 grandchildren Rachel and Ryan Kandell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hans is laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.
