Hughie Dixon, 89, of Ottawa died Sunday morning, November 9, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11,at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with the Rev. Peter Brick, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa where Full Military Rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon, until the services.

Mr. Dixon was born on May 31, 1925, in Knifley, KY, to Curtis and Nancy (Scott) Dixon. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines. He was employed at International Harvester in Louisville, KY, and retired from L.O.F. where he worked from 1954 to 1985. Hughie married Edna E. Campbell on September 22, 1947, in Knifley, KY.

Hughie was a member of the First Baptist Church, and Glassworkers Local 19.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, 2 sons Larry (Juanita) Dixon, of Ottawa, and Timothy (Tracy) Dixon of Louisville, KY, 4 grandchildren, Rev. Jeremy Dixon, Sommer Churchill, Hunter Dixon, and Katy Altman, and 4 great-granchildren, Samuel and Abigail Churchill, Ayden and Isabella Altman.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sister.

Pallbearers will be: Father Jeremy Dixon, Hunter Dixon, Mike Churchill, Ken Newtson, Terry Teausant, and Clarence Campbell, Jr.

Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.

Hughie ia laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
