Elwood Swift Jr., 94, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2014 5 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He will be entombed at Oakwood Memorial Park.
Elwood was born July 26, 1920 in Streator, Illinois to Elwood and Sue (Nichols) Swift. He married Frances Monterestelli on June 8, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa. He was in the United States Coast Guard.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union. He co-owned and operated Swift and Moore Carpet Laying for many years.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Beverly Swift; one grandson, David Swift; one brother, Charles Swift; one half-sister, Mary; many nieces and nephews; and his special care taker, Carol Woeckel.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances; one son, Frank Swift; his step-mother, Margaret Swift; one sister, Betty Noonan; and one half-sister, Nancy.
Memorials may be directed to his family.
Elwood is entombed in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum , Sanctuary of Love.
