Robert F. Marten, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Robert F. Marten, 81 of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4th at Brio of Johnston Senior Living Community in Johnston, IA.

Visitation will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, September 10th at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 9am on Monday, September 11th at Mueller Funeral Home concluding at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.

 

Robert was born in Ottawa on Friday, July 17th 1942 to Robert N. Marten and Elizabeth Marten. He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife Dianne and sisters, Sally Schmitz and Joan Aicher.

 

On Friday, August 24, 1963 he married Dianne Bosbon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Edgerton, WI. They were together for 45 years until Dianne’s passing in 2008. They have two sons, Robert O. (wife Kendall) of East Petersburg, PA and Steven Marten (wife Kelly) of Ankeny, IA.

 

He has five grandchildren: Robert H., Sawyer and Parker Marten of East Petersburg, PA, Taylor Marten (wife Megan) of Ankeny, IA and Allie Marten of Nashville, TN. He has two great grandchildren, John William and Grace Marie Marten of Ankeny, IA.

For the last three years Bob lived at Edencrest Senior Living in Ankeny, IA. During this time Steve and Bob were able to play endless games of cribbage and enjoy watching sports together. Bob was still a sharp cribbage player and enjoyed this very much.

As a lifelong Ottawa resident, Bob was very involved with the community and his family. He coached Ottawa Youth Football, YMCA basketball and Little League. Bob took great pride in his membership with the Ottawa Lions Club. He was a board member of the Ottawa School Board and South Ottawa Township as well. Bob and Dianne enjoyed many years together in the Ottawa community making countless memories with family and many friends that they adored.

Memorials may be directed to the Dementia Society of America.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Sharon Leone Morgan Stuepfert, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Sharon Leone Morgan Stuepfert, age 77, of Buchler Road, died at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital on August 12, 2023. She has resided in Vermont since 2015.

Sharon was born in Ottawa, IL, on January 15, 1946, daughter to the late David John and Mildred (Wilkenson) Morgan.  She grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa Township High School in the Class of 1964. She owned and ran Morgan’s Jewelry there in Ottawa, IL.   She liked Tootsie Rolls, coffee and watching the news and loved playing pinball at Indiana Beach while on vacation. She used her talents as a pianist to worship her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her son, Eric Stuepfert and his wife, Tessie, and their children: Abraham, John, Zoe and Owen, all of Wheelock, her 2 sisters: Joan Blythe (Jack) of Ottawa, IL, Sandra McIntosh of Bourbonnais, IL and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 16  years, David G. Stuepfert in 2002, her brother: David “Buddy” Morgan in 2013 and her brother-in-law: Jerry McIntosh in 2016.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, with an hour of Visitation at 9AM followed by a Memorial Service at 10AM at the Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, IL.  Burial of the urn will immediately follow the services.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Margaret A. Hess, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Margaret Hess, 93, of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday night, August 24, 2023 at The Pavilion of Ottawa.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date.

Marge was born on October 3, 1929 in Ottawa to Frank and Marian (Smith) Biecker. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1947. Marge married Donald Hess on March 10 1951 in Ottawa. She worked as a dental assistant in Ottawa for several years, at Pleasant View for four years, and as a secretary for various banks for over 30 years. Marge was a member of St. Patrick Church.

She is survived by her husband, Don; three children, Donna (Darrell) Thompson of Sheridan, Nancy Hess of Ottawa, and Brian (Patty) Hess of Ottawa; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Bradish of Peru.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother George Biecker, and a sister, Frances Jobst

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Church.

She was laid to rest in the Garden of the Ten Commandments.

Patricia Perrot, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa, IL

Patricia A. Perrot, 93, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.

Visitation will be from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Friday, October 20, at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Patricia was born September 9, 1930 in Seneca, IL to Alexander and Helen (Gribbon) Bell.

She enjoyed painting and doing puzzles with her grandchildren. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Grandmas Bowling League. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines. She was very giving of her time and frequently volunteered at the church. She would stuff envelopes, she taught catechism, and was a member of the Alter & Rosary Society. More than anything she liked to be with her family. She smiled more than ever when they were together.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Mollie) Perrot, Deborah Bramel, and Janet (James) Gibson; her grandchildren, Travis Angel, Abby Gnagey, Joseph Brand, and William Bramel; and her great grandchildren, Julian Brand, Oliver Brand, Adelaide Bramel, Noah Vicich, Isabella Vicich, Finn Angel, Olive Angel, and Maya Angel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry Perrot; her grandsons, Kevin Gibson and Jim Vicich; and her siblings, Cornelius Bell, Donald Bell, and Helen Mosier.

Frances Neurohr, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa, IL

Frances M. “Frannie” Neurohr, 99, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at La Salle County Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 9:00am until 10:00am at Ottawa Funeral Home on Monday, October 23. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Fr. Nicolas Wilson officiating. Entombment will take place in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Frances was born May 17, 1924, in Ladd , IL, to Mario and Dena (Fassino) Cioni. She married Frank Neurohr on June 23, 1945 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. He passed away May 2, 2002.

She worked as a cook at the UAW until she was well into her 80’s. She loved to cook and bake, especially her bread. She enjoyed camping and fishing and would take many trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Marla) Neurohr of Ottawa; her two daughters, Lori (Scott) Weed of Ottawa and Dena (Tom) Levy of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Gunner (Kary) Neurohr, Gannon (Nichole) Neurohr, Chance and Shea Weed, and Trevor (Ashley) Levy; and her great grandchildren, Lainey, Larkin and Fischer Neurohr and Ryder Durdan.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Frank; her three sisters, Mary Dettore, Kay Twardowski, and Viola Manis; and one brother, Mario Cioni.

Pallbearers will be Mike and Gannon Neurohr, Scott and Shea Weed, and Tom and Trevor Levy. Honorary pallbearer will be Gunner Neurohr.

Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choosing.

Frances has been laid to rest in the Sanctuary of Memory.

Shirley A. Gielow, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa, IL

Shirley A. Gielow, 81 of Grand Ridge passed away Sunday (September 24, 2023) at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 4 – 6 PM at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6PM.  A private family burial will be in the Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Ottawa.

Shirley was born on April 19, 1942, in Kilbourne, IL to James and Mary (Malone) Harmon.  She married Kenneth Gielow on August 29, 1983.  He survives.

Also surviving is a daughter Jacqueline (Rich) Fairbanks of Grand Ridge, Stepchildren, JoEllen (John Sullivan) Gielow of Delaware, Randy Gielow of Peru, Lynn (Ricky) Camatti of Standard, Ken (Mischelle) Gielow of McNabb, Lisa Ann (Jim) Powell of Johnson City, TN and Bobby Phillips of Johnson City, TN, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, brother, Jim (Shirley) Harmon of Ottawa, sisters, Linda (Bill Pierson) Wilkerson of Shorewood, Donna (Dave) Emerich of Ottawa, Teresa Harmon of Utah, sister in law Mary Harmon of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, David and Ernie, sisters, Rose Marie Goss, Elsie Harmon, Sally Perez, Mary Lue Whalen, sister-in-law Laurie Harmon.

Shirley graduated from Ottawa High School in 1960.  She retired from AT & T and Snap on Tool.  She was very active with the Grand Ridge Emergency Fund for many years and was a former mayor and council member of Grand Ridge.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Grand Ridge Emergency Fund.

Shirley has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
