Dominic “Sonny” Preci, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Dominic “Sonny” Preci, 84, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Sunday January 5, 2020 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Thursday January 9, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa, with Rev. Bruno Byomuhangi officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Moose Service at 6:00 pm Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Dominic was born October 20, 1935, in Naplate, IL, to Arthur and Violet (Vignali) Preci . He married Patricia Schaefer on June 23, 1954 at St Mary’s Church in Danville, Il she died November 10, 1997 he then married Lori (Nelson) Hackler on February 17, 2001 at St Mary’s Church in Naplate.

He retired from LOF Glass Co on December 31, 1996 after 40 years. He also worked as Bartender at Anne’s Hide-A-Way. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Naplate and St. Francis of Assisi Church, life member Ottawa Moose Lodge, life member of St Mary’s Men’s Club and the Angel Squad, he served 50 years on the Financial Plus Credit Union Board, he was a Boy Scout leader, a avid Cubs fan and a baseball memorabilia collector and ARRP.

He is survived by Wife, Lori Preci; a son Arthur (Christine) Preci, a step-daughter Jennifer (Allan) Hackler-Green four grandchildren Grace, Xavier, Ryan and Kayla and one on the way, one great-grandson Macklin, two furry friends Shadow and Chloe.

Dominic was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia, a daughter Violet Preci.

Pallbearers will be John & Mike Nevins, Jeremy & Adam Nelson, Steve & Steven Smith, Rick Vignali and Chris Tanner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sandy Burkart, Jack Teausant, Bill Mucci, Grace Tanner, Xavier Green, Ryan Preci, Kayla Fleming

Dominic was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Bernard R. “Buck” Hettel, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Bernard R. “Buck” Hettel, 89, of Utica, passed away on Monday morning, December 30, at the Ottawa Pavilion with his family at his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church in Utica, with Rev. Michael Driscoll, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 33 Veteran’s Group Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 3:45 p.m. and with the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in attendance.

Buck was born in Valmeyer, Illinois, on November 22, 1930 to Bernard T. and Vera B. (Rabe) Hettel. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1947 to 1951, in Okinawa Japan, 15th Air Force. Buck married Dolores “Dee” Martin on December 17, 1953 in Joliet. He retired in 1995 from the Local 150 Operating Engineers. Buck was a member of the St. Mary’s Church in Utica, American Legion Post 33, the Local 150, and was a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by three sons, Mike (Jean) Hettel, of Peoria, Marty Hettel, of St. Peters, MO, and Mark Hettel, of Ottawa, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Dolores (Bruce) Bartlett, of Toledo, OH and Mary Belle Knutson, of Boulder Castle Rock, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dee, on July 29, 2005, and a sister Nancy Halterman.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Marty, Mark, Ross, Eric, and Nick Hettel.

Buck was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Ardythe Kay (Lloyd) Flesher, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Ardythe Kay (Lloyd) Flesher, 65, of Serena, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Aperion Care in Marseilles.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Kevin Yandell, Pastor of New Community Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Ardythe was born on February 16, 1954 in Ottawa to Herbert and Velma (Harrington) Lloyd. She married Allen D. Flesher on January 2, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. Ardythe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafting, and going camping.

She is survived by her husband, Allen, of Serena, 4 brothers, Wayne (Jane) Lloyd, of Morris, IL, Herbert (Myra) Lloyd, of Bremen, AL, Bruce (Violy) Lloyd, of Vallejo, CA, and Robert (Mary) Lloyd, of Vallejo, CA, two step sisters, Cathy Menzel, and Audie Hartson, both of Sacramento, CA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a step sister Carol Osgood.

Ardythe was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Marian June (Young) Mayberry, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Marian June (Young) Mayberry, 90, of Ottawa, passed away on Saturday morning, December 28, 2019 at her home.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Oakwood Memorial Park, with Rev. William Clark, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Marian was born on June 9, 1929 in Blue Island, IL to John and Elva (Marquist) Young. She married Harry L. Mayberry on October 3, 1947 at her mother’s home. He passed away on December 1, 2001. Marian worked for the Daily Times for 38 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa

She is survived by a son Leonard (Vicki) Mayberry, of Ottawa, a daughter Rebecca Mayberry, of Ottawa, 2 granddaughters, Sarah Mayberry and Kim Webb, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry, and a sister May Conley.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
