Brian White, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Brian White, age 70, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8th at Oakwood Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Brian was born January 12, 1949 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of John Edward and Ruth Elsie (Harding) White. He is survived by two brothers, Thomas White of Aurora, IL and Kenneth White of Garden Grove, CA.

Brian enjoyed doing volunteer work. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the PADS Shelter, 1120 Canal Street, Ottawa, IL 61350.

Brian was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Herbert L. “Sonny” Hetrick, Jr., Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Herbert L. “Sonny” Hetrick, Jr., 78, of Ventnor, NJ, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 27.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am, Sunday, August 4 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Sunday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Herb will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Park Shrine of Rest Mausoleum alongside his parents at a later date.

He was born March 27, 1941 in Ottawa, IL to Tex and Helen Hetrick. As a young man he became and Eagle Scout, with his Mom as his den mother. He held a paper route, worked on a farm, and participated in athletics. He was a Class of 1963 graduate of St. Olaf College. He became a trainee for JC Penney management, where he met his former wife, Susanne (Shelton) Hetrick. They moved from the Midwest to the West Coast, and settled in the East Coast, through JC Penney transfers.

After 32 years with JC Penney he worked as a substitute teacher in Brigantine, NJ. In his best days, Herb enjoyed biking on the Boardwalk and eating at his many breakfast joints in Ventnor. He was the most loving, dedicated, and supporting father anyone could hope for.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Karin), and Greg; and his daughter Christi Strang; and Granddog Boxer boy, Jameson; Sisters Jo (Heob) Hall, Peggy (Dick) Hetrick Hanson, nieces, Brenda (Steve) Hanson Celardo, Jennifer Hanson Peterson, Stacy (Bill) Heob Sale, and Kristin Heob Highton.

Memorials may be directed to his family.

Herb was laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest in the Sanctuary of Devotion.
