Ernest James Brown, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Ernest James Brown, 75, of Marseilles, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 28, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a. m. Wednesday January 3, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 5-7 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ernie was born on July 29, 1942, in Ottawa to Sherman Carl and Emily Jane (Spicer) Brown. On March 18, 2016 he married Judith Rodgers of Marseilles.

Ernie served in the National Guard. He was employed by the Housing Authority of LaSalle County. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; son-in-law, Karl Mahler of Ottawa; two grandsons, Charles and Eddie Whitney, both of Ottawa; one sister, Sharon (Mike) Paglia of Hollowayville, IL; one nephew, Darren (Tina) Meagher of Ladd; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Deneé Mahler.

Memorials may be given to Pet Project.

Pallbearers will be Fred Krause, Randy Hooper and Randy Hooper Jr., Roger Hallowell, Larry Carstens, and Lee McCullough.

Gary W. Grieves, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Gary W. Grieves, 63, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Chicago.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, December 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am, prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Gary was born August 23, 1954 in Ottawa to Edward and June (Wescott) Grieves. He retired from Peltier Glass Co.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Grieves; his uncle, John Grieves; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Edward, Christopher, and Vance Grieves.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gary has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
