Richard W. “Dick” Boe, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Richard W. “Dick” Boe, 78, of Ottawa died on Tuesday evening, March 14, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa, with Rev. David Ufkes, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park on a later date.

Dick was born on January 23, 1939 in Ottawa to Howard and Cora (Holm) Boe. He married Elly Kosters on September 27, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, and they resided in Ottawa.

He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1957. He served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961 at the Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, and was an Airman Second Class. He remained in Alaska until 1964 and drove a tour bus in Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon his return to Illinois he farmed in Princeton for a few years. He went to work with his father at Boe Oil in Ottawa in 1968 and eventually bought the company in 1972, which he ran until 2004, when he retired.

Dick was an Exalted Ruler with the Elks, a member of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the VFW. After retiring Dick enjoyed going for drives in his 1966 Mustang convertible with Elly. He and Elly also traveled the country in their RV, wintered in Florida, and traveled in Europe. He took pleasure in participating in the Boe family reunions and parades held in Harding, IL, as well as fishing, boating, and playing cards. He will be remembered for his kind heart, easy laugh, and genuine smile.

Dick is survived by his wife, Elly, her 3 children, Josie (Robert) Lee, of Seneca, Karin (Dave) Scoggin, of Morris and Harry (Debbie) Kosters, of Morris, 3 grand children, Jared Lee, Joseph Kosters, and Erik Lee, a great granddaughter, Paige Pasteris, a sister, Corrine (Garland) Craft, of Modesto, CA, 2 brothers, James “Jim” (Marilyn) Boe, of Ottawa and Gerry (Patricia) Boe, of Plainfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Allyson Kosters.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Vitas Hospice.

Dick has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

Patricia Ann (Streul) Dummitt, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Patricia Ann (Streul) Dummitt, 70, of Ottawa passed away November of 2016 in her home for the last years of her life.
Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation rites. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dummitt was born September 6, 1946 in Ottawa, Illinois to Robert F. Streul and Frances Louise (Marten) Streul. She married Gerald Thomas Dummitt August 9, 1966 in Morris, Illinois; he passed away June 16, 1994.

Mrs. Dummitt (“Tish” to her family and “Pat” to her work colleagues) last worked for the Handy Foods Grocery Store in Ottawa before her retirement.

She is survived by one son, Gerald Raymond Dummitt; one brother, Robert F. Streul; one niece, Diane (Streul) Hunt; and her two first-cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother on May 17, 2004, and her father on August 12, 1946.

Memorials may be directed to any charity of choice.

Hazel (Armstrong) Watts, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Hazel (Armstrong) Watts, 85, of Ottawa, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.

She was born December 29, 1931.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home and Crematory in Ottawa.

Hazel has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Seasons at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Michael K. Jaeger Sr., Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Michael K. Jaeger Sr., 69, of LaSalle passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017 at Liberty Village Manor Court in Peru.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, March 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be private at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Michael was born September 8, 1947 in Ottawa to Albert and Marjorie (Green) Jaeger. He married Dee (Delyse) Bellrose on August 20, 1977 in Ottawa.

Michael worked for a time at Ottawa Silica, but most of his life as an operating engineer with Local 150, in the construction field; he retired in 2010. He was a decorated Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967-1969. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal while in County for devotion to duty and leadership. He achieved the rank of Sgt. E5.

He is survived by his loving wife; one son, Michael (Norma) Jaeger Jr. of Arizona; a sister, Marjorie Bond of Arizona; brother Anthony Jaeger, his twin brother, Mark of Florida; a step-brother, Elmer (Kim) Brooker Jr.; and a very special and devoted brother-in-law, Kim (Adrianne) Bellrose, who had done so much for us. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchidren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Also, his devoted dog “Gunner.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, step- father Elmer Brooker Sr., a brother Charles, a sister Mary Lou Gorski, and a step-sister Mary Voss.

Pallbearers will be his twin Mark Jaeger, Joseph Wolfe, John Conrad, Tom Siebert, Lee White, and Tony Jaeger. Kim Bellrose will be an honorary pallbearer.

Michael has been laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.
