Gladys J. Clairmont, age 67, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason, Kevin, and Craig Clairmont, Tyler Beldon, Scott Sanders, and Brian Larson. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan J. Reynolds, P.J. Scanavino, Roy Sanders, and Dominic Crum.
Gladys was born February 8, 1948 in Ottawa, the daughter of Roy and Nola (Maltas) Sanders. She married Robert Benge and later married Patrick Scanavino. She then married Charles Clairmont July 9, 1996 in Ottawa. Surviving are her husband, Charles “Chuck” of Marseilles; her children, Melissa Jean (Joe) Check and Angela Scanavino, both of Cable WI, Jason (Crystal) Clairmont of Ottawa, Kevin (Julie) Clairmont of Plainfield, Craig Clairmont of Smyrna TN, and Brian (Arlene) Clairmont of San Diego CA; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one brother, Ron (Yonge) Sanders of Branden FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ralph Sanders.
Gladys attended the First Baptist Church of Ottawa. She had been employed as a receptionist for 36 years for Dr. Terry Love’s office in Ottawa. She was a member of the Women of the Moose as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to travel, many times at a moment’s notice. Gladys cherished her time spent with her children and all of her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association.
Gladys is laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.
