Evelyn M. Buehler 1923-2013

OTTAWA – Evelyn M. Buehler, age 90, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at Ottawa Pavilion.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ottawa with Reverend David Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the church.  Gladfelter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Ms. Buehler was born June 21, 1923 in Ottawa to Fred and Maude (Snedden) Buehler.  She is survived by a sister, Elsie (Richard) Rice of McHenry (formerly of Ottawa); two nephews, James (Barb) Rice of Broken Arrow OK and Jerry (Nancy) Rice of Cary IL; and two nieces, Judith (Charles) Love of Kankakee and Julie (Paul) Strehl of Tonica.  Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur John Buehler.

Evelyn is laid to rest in the Garden of Psalms.

James G. Gehler 1934-2013

James G. Gehler, 79, of Springfield, formerly of Ottawa, died on Friday, November 1, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa, with the Rev. Greg Busboom and Rev. Ladd Sonnenberg, of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Jim was born on July 14, 1934 in Watertown, WI to Gilbert and Leata (Menz) Gehler. He married Barbara (Thorson) Freise on April 6, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota. At the time of his passing he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield.

James is laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.

Charles L. Wagner 1932-2013

Charles Lewis Wagner, 81, of Ottawa died on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the LaSalle Veteran’s Home in LaSalle

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Charles was born on February 17, 1932 in Ottawa, to Charles and Myra (Dixon) Wagner. He married Patricia A. Carr on August 7, 1952 in California. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Charles volunteered 5244 hours at the Community Hospital. He owned and operated Wagner’s Variety Stores in Ottawa and Indiana, and retired from Eby Brown in Aurora in 1997.

Charles is laid to rest in the Garden of  Prayer.

Shirley (Morphew) Hoffman 1930-2013

OTTAWA — Shirley (Morphew) Hoffman, 83, of Ottawa, died Saturday morning, Nov. 2, at Morris Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on Aug. 18, 1930, in Low Point, Ill., to Robert Griffin and Gladys Viola (Foster) Morphew. She married Paul Hoffman on May 15, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa.

She is survived by a son, Fredrick Hoffman, of Ottawa; three daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Ohme, of Mountain Home, Ark., Karen Houltram, of Ottawa, and Sharon Gaudi, of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Dawn (Russel) Floyd, Kayla (Mark) Seibert, Tenille (Paul) Bankson, Brent (Apisara) Houltram and Robert Hoffman; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a godson, Robert Peterson.

Shirley is laid to rest in the Garden of the Ten Commandments.
