Doris was born on January 24, 1938 in Paw Paw, IL to Ruth and Claude Luce. She married Willis L. Nordtvedt on February 16, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Paw Paw.

Doris worked for many years at Ryburn Memorial Hospital as a cook before transitioning to the Community Hospital of Ottawa when it opened in 1974. After retiring she worked for The Daily Times part time, where she enjoyed stuffing the newspaper with all those advertisements we all love. She was a long-time member of The First Baptist Church in Ottawa, and a member of the Oledine Wood Guild where she sold countless cases of pecans over the years. She was a great cook, and everyone loved the chocolate pies she made for any occasion. And she never met a peanut butter and jelly sandwich she didn’t like.

She is survived by a sister Betty Goble, a brother Richard Luce, a son, Gregory (Erica) Nordtvedt of Kenosha; a daughter in law Denise Nordtvedt, seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Diss, Christopher (Janelle) Nordtvedt, Evan and Ella Nordtvedt and Jordan (Francesca) Smothers, Sarah, and Joshua Smothers, and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Mardell Dobbins, Jackie Beck, and Beverly Tighe, her husband, Willis on November 19, 2005, a daughter, Cynthia (John) Smothers, and son Steven Nordtvedt.

Doris will be laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration at Oakwood Memorial Park.
