Larry A. Stanford, 80, formerly of Earlville and Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Sandwich Living and Rehab Center.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home, 800 First Avenue, in Ottawa with Rev. Randy Mortenson, Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, officiating. There will be visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be on Monday, December 22, at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.
Larry was born on April 17, 1945 in Sandwich Hospital, the son of Bertie and Esther (Joslin) Stanford. He married Ruth Esther Boe on October 11, 1980 at Bethel Lutheran Church of Ottawa. She passed away on August 25, 2020. Larry grew up in Earlville on his family farm graduating from Earlville High School. He later worked at Open Door Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich and Community Hospital of Ottawa until his retirement. He always enjoyed sharing his memories of farming.
He is survived by brothers-in-law, Eugene (Gudrun) Boe of Fergus Falls, MN, Russell (Nancy) Boe of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Judy (Kevin) Snook of Ottawa, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Stanford, and his “like a brother cousin”, Cecil “Lee” Stanford.
The family would like to extend much gratitude to the caregivers of Sandwich Rehab Center and Vitas Hospice for the special care he received.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
Larry was laid to rest in the Garden of The Ten Commandments at Oakwood Memorial Park.
