Wayne Julien Hess, 96, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Satya Sudhakar, Pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Oakwood Memorial Park. A visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Wayne was born on March 11, 1927 in Waltham Township to Julien and Irene (Nelson) Hess. He worked for Brown Oil Company and Hess & Hill Oil Company. Wayne married Barbara Wilson on June 3, 1951 at Epworth Methodist Church in Ottawa. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Jaycees, and Kiwanis. Wayne loved fishing, bowled for many years in a league, and belonged to several coffee clutches.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hess, of Ottawa; two daughters, Diana (Gary) Windy, Susan (Bill) Sheridan, both of Ottawa; 8 grandchildren, Matthew (Jill) Windy, Kyle (Nicole) Windy, Luke (Laurie) Windy, Gary Jr. (April) Windy, Keith Sheridan, Stephen Sheridan, Caitlyn Sheridan, Kelsey Sheridan; 11 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Kale, Mason, Rhyat, Ty, Jacob, Nate, Lila, Quinn, Elizabeth, Evan Windy; two brothers, Clifford and Donald Hess.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, Julien and Irene Hess; and a brother, Larry Hess.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Wayne was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Oakwood Memorial Park.
