JOHN CHARLES SMOTHERS, JR., age 66, of Portage, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on February 14, 1959 to the late John Charles, Sr. and Arlene Smothers. John grew up in West Chicago and lived in the Brookfield/LaGrange, Illinois area until he recently moved to Portage. John will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
John is survived by his children, Jordan (Francesca) Smothers, Sarah (Daniel) Dvoulety and Josh (Angie) Smothers; 7 grandchildren, Keira “Kai”, Sophia, Olivia, Mila, Natalia, Luna, Ameila; 5 siblings, Jeffery Smothers, Daniel (Cristina), Diane Smothers, Douglas (Wendy) Smothers, and Melissa (Jerry) Mlodzianowski; sister-in-law, Katherine Smothers; many nieces, nephews, and other loving family.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia and brother, Matthew Smothers.
Cremation entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
John was laid to rest in the Garden of Psalms at Oakwood Memorial Park.
