Emmett Franklin Roth, 81, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Kevin Garner, Pastor of Fox River Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, at the Mueller Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Emmett was born on January 28, 1944 in St. Genevieve, MO to Wilfred John and Stella Mae (White) Roth. He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1962. Emmet was a veteran of the US Army and served from 1965 to 1967. He married Karen (Bruck) Shanley on June14, 1995. Emmett worked as a waste water treatment specialist for 34 years at G.E. He attended Fox River Lutheran Church. Emmett enjoyed many things, including, fishing, bowling, riding his bike, playing cards, mowing the lawn on his John Deere, telling jokes, collecting coins, and spending time with his family. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; a son, Doug (Cheryl) Roth; a daughter, Annette (Roth) Cantu; stepchildren, Kelli (Jeff) DeWalt and Christopher Shanley; and five grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Elena, Connor, and Claire.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandy Morgan.

Emmett was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Oakwood Memorial Park.
