Francis “Barney” Sesto, 90, of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Pleasant View.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Interment will follow at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
Barney was born on March 18, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Anita (Capatani) Sesto. He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1952. Barney married Ruth Barnett on August 26, 1953 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He worked for Pilkington for over 48 years. From an early age Barney loved to hunt and fish with his father. As life became busy, he was able to satisfy his love of the outdoors by tending his garden and flower beds and keeping his yard manicured with Ruth by his side.
His first love though was his family. He and Ruth enjoyed following their sons, grandsons, great grandkids and many relatives in all sports. It didn’t matter what season or where you could find Ruth and Barney in lawn chairs with a bag of popcorn cheering on their team with vigor. You couldn’t find more dedicated fans.
He is survived by two sons, Jay (Alicia) Sesto and Rick (Tami) Sesto of LaSalle; three grandchildren, Jill Lemrise, of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Sesto, of Marseilles, and Cory (Kristen) Sesto, of Ottawa, four great grandchildren, Kylie, Addison, Bailey, and Sawyer Sesto; and a brother Jerry Sesto of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife on December 7, 2016.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Barney was laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in the Sanctuary of Seasons at Oakwood Memorial Park.
