Joseph Donald Lubshina, 73, of Ottawa, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Joe was born to Eveline and Joseph Lubshina. He married Sandra (Cook) Lubshina on January 18, 1990, and became a loving father to her two children, Velana (Gerding) Huntington and Ericka Gerding. Joe’s wife preceded him in death on September 2, 2010.
Joe worked for the City of Ottawa until his retirement in 2014. He previously worked at Carus Chemical and Libby-Owens Ford. He was involved for many years in the Ottawa softball league, the Ottawa Bowling Association, and the Odd Fellows. He was an avid music and sports fan, including being die-hard Sox fan, though it’s possible this last season did him in. Joe loved his extensive music collection and would often share lyrics and songs with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Ericka Gerding of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Malcolm Smart, Dahliah Smart, and Dylan Huntington; one brother, Gerald Lubshina; and one sister, Karen Magana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandi; daughter, Velana; parents, Eveline & Joseph; and brother, Donald Flashing.
A visitation/celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 7, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home.
Joseph was laid to rest in the Garden of The Last Supper at Oakwood Memorial Park.
