Mildred Ganiere, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa IL

Mildred E. Ganiere, 102, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 am October 7, at St. Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Gary Caster officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Mildred was born January 8, 1920, in Wapakoneta, OH, to Nicholas and Clara (Hermiller) Seifert . She married Donald Ganiere on January 31, 1946 at St. Columba Church.  He preceded her in death on December 27, 1976.

She worked as the office manager of the Illinois Valley Farm Bureau Farm Management Service for over 40 years, retiring at age 75. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa. She also enjoyed playing euchre with friends and relatives, especially her grandsons. And she rarely lost a game.

She is survived by three sons, Donald A. (Mary) Ganiere of Ottawa, William Charles Ganiere of Naplate, and Thomas G. Ganiere of Ottawa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Clara; her husband, Donald; three sisters, Louise Tisler, Mary Seifert, and Antoinette Gage; and one brother, Joseph Seifert.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Donald C. Ganeire and Eric J. Ganiere; her nephew, James Gage; her great nephew, Rick Gage; and her great great nephews, Kenrik Gage and Deklan Gage. Honorary pallbearer’s will be her nephew’s, John Gage and Larry Gray.

Memorials may be directed to either St. Patrick’s future projects or Marquette Academy Foundation.

Mildred has been laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration at Oakwood Memorial Park.
