Jerry Alfred Bottoms, 79, of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Jerry was born on November 30, 1941 in Marseilles to William and Cecelia (Engel) Bottoms. He was a graduate of Marseilles High School, class of 1959. Jerry was a veteran of the US Navy. Following his service, he was employed with Material Service in Marseilles, IVCC in Oglesby, and the City of Ottawa.

He is survived by his son, Terry (Tammy) Caldwell of Campbellsville, KY; daughter, Betty (Randall) Ehret of Ottawa; 7 brothers and sisters, Bob (Roshell) Bottoms of Ottawa, Carolsue (Jim) Beck of Wernersville, PA, Eddie Bottoms of Ottawa, Wayne (Dee) Bottoms of Seneca, Steve (Barb) Bottoms of Ottawa, Sue (Dick) Hochstetler of Lowell, and Melody (John) Bottoms of Ottawa; 6 grandchildren, Susan Caldwell of Campbellsville, KY, Joshua Caldwell of Tomkinsville, KY, Aaron (Calen) Caldwell of Campbellsville, KY, Randy (Ashley) Ehret, Jr. of Geneva, Sam Ehret of Chicago, and Danni (Kaz) Ehret of Ottawa; many nieces and nephews along with Judy Bottoms of Ottawa, Brenda Caldwell of Knifley, KY; and a very special cousin, Kenny Mundy of Marseilles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cecelia Engel and William Bottoms; a brother, James “Wilbur” Bottoms; a sister, Lillian Bottoms; a granddaughter, Jessica Ehret; and his lifelong friend, Vera.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
