Mary C. Collins, 92, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Manor Court in Peru.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Fevlo officiating. Her visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00, one hour prior to services, Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park.
Mary was born May 21, 1924 in Streator, Illinois to Glenn and Edith (Slingsby) Maier. She married Floyd Collins on February 10, 1944 at St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca; he passed away January 26, 2017. She was a member of St. Francis Church.
Mary and her husband, Floyd, were avid square dancers, making many friends along the way. They were also involved in round dancing and boot kickers.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Diane) Collins of Marseilles, Larry (Kathleen) Collins of Marseilles, and Darlynn (Ray) Pelton of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Peter, Adam, Karrie, Emily, and Amy; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Colin, Elora, Darlynn Rose, and Lilly; and one sister, Lila Earhardt.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents; and her three brothers, Emmett, Clarence, and Francis Maier.
Mary has been laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration.
