Concetta “Connie” “Honey” Evola, 87, of Ottawa passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 9 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 -7 pm, Wednesday, March 8, with prayers at 3:45, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am, prior to the services, Thursday at the funeral home. She will be entombed in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Connie was born May 5, 1929 in Chicago to Michael and Carmella (Tomasello) Deluca. She married Salvatore “Sam” Evola on December 16, 1950 in Chicago; he passed away November 7, 1989. Connie and her husband Sam owned and operated Sam’s Pizza for 62 years. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Connie loved being outside, dancing, and taking her riding lawnmower around. She was a hardworking woman and a loving grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Marty) Womack of Ottawa, and Rose Mary (Giuseppe) Maniaci of Sycamore; three sons, Joseph (Caterina) Evola of Marseilles, Sam (Laurie) Evola of Morris, and Vince (Sarah) Evola of Ottawa; 18 grandchildren, Concetta Sandra Womack, Nunzio (Sarah), Fara, Salvatore, Vincenzo, and Concetta Angela Maniaci, Concetta Marie (Roberto) Mangiapane, Orsola Giovanna (Joel) Sovich, Angela Josephine, and Salvatore Joseph Evola, Salvatore Michael, Anthony Joseph, Samantha Ann, Nicholas Andrew, and Ashley Nicole Evola, and Andrew, Evan, and Olivia Evola; and 8 great-grandchildren, Oliviana, Norah, Rosalia, and Rosemary Maniaci, Mariaelena, Caterina, and Giuseppe Mangiapane, and Samuel Jacob Evola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, Frank, Joseph, James, Sam, and Michael Deluca; and four sisters, Rose, Pauline, Josephine, and Salvatora.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Connie has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Love.
