Betty Jean Davis Gross, 90, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, June 30, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Brick and David Gross officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday at the Ottawa Funeral Home, and one hour before services at church. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.
Betty was born January 26, 1924, in DuQuoin, Illinois, to Loren and Esther Davis. She married June Gross on July 20, 1943, in Brownsville, Texas during World War II. He died September 27, 2008.
Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oledine Wood Guild, Delta Theta Tau Society and the Doralon Duster’s. She was a wonderful seamstress for many years, a volunteer at the Ottawa Hospital, and spent most of her summers at the north side Ottawa Softball diamond.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Harold) Fogarty; three sons, Terry (Pam) Gross of Frankfort, Il., Tom (Kay) Gross, and Tim (Malia) Gross both of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Yanule, Sarah (Colby) Zemaitis, Jay (Stephanie) Gross, Brett (Laura) Gross, Matt (Christina) Gross, Chad (Amy) Gross, Brock Fogarty, Keoni Gross and Kekoa Gross; eleven great-grandchildren, Drew, Elle and Anna Zemaitis, Finley, Keelin, Liam and Ainslee Gross, Alexis and Alyssa Yanule, Audrey and Ryan Gross; and her sister, Irma Dean ( Dawson) Duncan of DuQuoin, IL.
She is preceded in death by parents and her husband.
Betty is laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
