By June 19, 2018Obituaries

On June 7, 2018 at the age of 89, Wilma (Jacobowski) Harmon was reunited with her family and friends who have gone before her. She was born to Lena and Joseph Jacobowski on February 3, 1929 in Peru, Illinois. Her parents, brothers-Joey Jacobowski, Lenny Jacobowski, and father Raymond Jacobowski preceded her in death.

She married Bernard Harmon and they had four children. Her husband, and sons Danny Harmon and Donald Harmon also preceded her in death.

Surviving family members are her sister, Cathy Ferguson of Indiana; sister, Rita Krewer of West Dundee, Illinois; daughter, Donna (Al) Rollins of Hudson, Illinois; son, Dave (Shirley) Harmon of Yellville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Edwards and Amy (Chris) Kirchner of Hudson, Illinois, and Joey Clair and Jimmy Clair of South Carolina. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

She treasured three things in life-faith in God, family, and friends. Wilma was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa until recent years when she moved to Normal, Illinois to be with her daughter and her family. She always put her family first and having friends and being a good friend was very important to her even to the end. She was known as a “social butterfly” while living at Blair House Retirement Home and then Heritage Nursing Home, both in Normal, Illinois.

In lieu of memorials, her wish would be that you do a kind deed in her memory.

A special thank you to the staff of Heritage Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois and Transitions Hospice for their constant care and support.

Services will be held at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, June 12 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 – 12:30 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Wilma has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
