Darrel “Ernie” Harmon, 67 of Ottawa passed away Tuesday (December 4th, 2018) at the Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota.
The Grand Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with the cremation. A private family viewing was held prior to the cremation. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Ernie was born on November 24, 1951 in Ottawa to Jim and Mary Harmon. He lived in California for many years working as a construction and roofing laborer. In 1980 Ernie has a swimming accident which left him as a quadriplegic. He has a love for Nascar and Art work. He amassed a large number of wonderful paintings which he gave to several friends and family.
He was the 11th child of Jim and Mary’s. He is survived by 1 brother Jim (Shirley) Harmon of Ottawa, 7 sisters, Sally (Javier) Perez of Elgin, Shirley (Ken) Gielow of Grand Ridge, Mary Lue (Bernie) Whalen of Olympia, WA, Linda (Bill Pearson) Wilkerson of Shorewood, Donna (Dave) Emerick of Ottawa, Elsie Harmon of Ottawa, Teresa Harmon of Utah and a sister-in-law Laurie Harmon of Ottawa, also 34 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers John and David Harmon, a sister Rose Marie Gass and 3 nephews.
Ernie has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Oakwood Memorial Park.
