Lucille “Lu” Ahern, 100, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully January 3, 2026 in the home she loved for nearly 70 years.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 with Rev. Wilbur Zeal officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Lucille was born on October 3, 1925 to Truman and Caroline (Severson) Thorson. She was a graduate of Newark High School, class of 1943. Later, she moved to Ottawa and married Robert “Bob” Ahern on July 15, 1950.

She is survived by a son, R. Kevin (Rhonda) Ahern of Ottawa; grandchildren, Brent (Jessica Friede) Ahern of Ottawa, Alex (Olivia) Ahern of Ottawa, Amy Brady of Marseilles, and Andrew (Jordan) Brady of California; great-grandchildren, Briella Ahern, Lenox Vangelisti, Logan Ahern, Autumn Gremel, and Isla Brady; and a sister Lois Ann Johnson of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, daughter Karen Brady, and grandson Stephen Ahern. Also preceding her in death were siblings, Betty Jacobson, Helen Nelson, Dean Thorson, and Cliff Thorson.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lucille was laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration at Oakwood Memorial Park.
