Eric R. Clayton, 50, of Sterling, born on January 26, 1973, died on November 20, 2023 in Rock Falls, Illinois
Eric had a great love for music, he especially enjoyed his many guitars. He was a comedian at heart and loved doing impersonations and imitating people to make his friends and family laugh. Eric spent many hours tending to his garden every year and always made sure it was nicely taken care of. He also enjoyed cooking a warm meal for others. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at The Big Red Church First Congregational at 311 2nd Ave, Sterling, Illinois with the Reverend Jeff Coester officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM to 11AM with a service to follow. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jo “B.J.” Clayton and step father, Jack Mathews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas and his brother, Mark.
A memorial fund is established in Eric’s name for The Big Red Church.
Eric was laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Oakwood Memorial Park.
