Lynette (Maynard) Crockett-Barnes, 84, of Ottawa, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
Private services will be held at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa at a later date.
Lynette was born on April 28, 1941 in La Salle to Robert Leon and Dorothy (Kolowski) Maynard. First born of three daughters, she attended Grove & Kleiber one room grade schools in Rutland Township, and graduated Ottawa High School – Class of 1959. Lynette attended American School of Beauty Culture in Chicago, earning her License in Cosmetology in 1960. Lynette ran her own beauty shop for two years before marrying Graham “Gay” Crockett in 1964. She raised four children and was a partner in Gay’s Body Shop, Inc. on Poplar Street in Ottawa for 49 ½ years. They sold the business in 2018. Gay passed away in 1999. She then married William C. Barnes in 2007.
She is survived by her four children, Brett (Anna) Crockett, of Brisbane, CA, Brad (Lynne) Crockett, of LaSalle, Grant (Becky) Crockett, of LaSalle, and Cristy (Christopher) Thompson, of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Emma (Zach) Buckley, Alexandria “Lexi” Thompson, Samantha “Sami” (Cooper) Thompson-Wilkinson, Joshua (fiance, Adam Pemberton) Crockett, and Madison “Madi” (fiance, Blaze Ballowe) Thompson; a great-granddaughter, Sloane Buckley; a sister, Diane (Bob) Smith, of Ottawa; nieces and nephews, Lex (Emily Nelson) Hughes, Bobbi Hughes, Joe (Katie) Hughes, Tracy (Jeff) Ritko, and Leslie (Charlie) Houch; her husband, Bill; two step-daughters, Rebecca Marei and Emily Barnes; five step-grandchildren, Joe (Sydney Hall) Viola, Kyle Barnes, Lexi (Brandon) Shedlock, Kailyn Warwick, and Ava Warwick; three step-great-grandchildren, Macy Barnes, Courtland Shedlock, and Cooper Shedlock; and dear friend, Judy Garvey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Maynard; her husband, Graham “Gay” Crockett; a sister, Lenore Pshak; and a brother-in-law, Ron Pshak.
Lynette was laid to rest in the Garden of The Last Supper at Oakwood Memorial Park.
