Barbara L. Halsey, 86, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Barbara was born on August 4, 1938 in Ottawa, IL. She attended college in Beloit, WI where she received a bachelor’s degree in teaching, and eventually earned a Master’s degree as well. Barbara taught school for 38 years. She married John Halsey on June 2, 1969 and lived in Grayslake, IL for 35 years. Barbara loved being around family, being a member of DAR, traveling and crafts. She had a gift for telling very good stories.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, John Halsey; and parents, Leroy and Louise Jackson.
Left to treasure her memory is her daughter, Melissa L. Kohler; grandchildren, Jacob Switalski (Brandi), Joseph Switalski; great-grandchildren, Lambeau Switalski, Faith Grett (Clayton), Grace Brown (Leroy), Jayden Brown; and great-great-grandchildren, Kaiden Yarrell and Walker Grett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at The Blake, with Chaplain Conrad Meadows officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery in Ottawa, IL.
Barbara will be laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Oakwood Memorial Park.
