Barbara (Zimmerman) Miller, 89, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Msgr. Mark Merdian, Pastor of the Ottawa Catholic Parishes, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara was born on January 31, 1933 in Ottawa to Vincent and Marie “Cookie” (Brandherm) Zimmerman. She was a graduate of Marquette High School and was the first Homecoming Queen at Marquette. Barb was a member of St. Francis of Assis Church. She worked for many years at Libbey Owns Ford and later at the Community Hospital of Ottawa, where she retired from. Barb was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her door was always open and she considered everyone family. She enjoyed going to breakfast with her life long friend Sheila. Barb cherished her last eight years living with her daughter, Beth. She was a devout Catholic, and loved her visits with Msgr. Merdian.

She is survived by five children, Stephen “Squeaks” (Dona) Miller of Ottawa, Gary “Ox” (Mary Beth Iverson) Miller of Ottawa, Susan Raikes of Marseilles, John (Sharon) Miller of Grand Ridge and Beth Miller of Ottawa; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Miller; 13 grandchildren, John F. Miller, Ryan, Brad, and Brent Miller, Brandon and Anna Raikes, Haley Stahl, Zachary, Rachel, and Mary Miller, and Brandy, Michael, and Kyle Miller; two step grandchildren, Dawn and Michael Broadbeck; 18 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a niece Dana McManus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael and Terry “Rock” Miller; a brother Donald Zimmerman; and a sister-in-law Connie Zimmerman.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Barbara has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in the Sanctuary of Seasons at Oakwood Memorial Park.
