Sharon was born in Ottawa December 2, 1944, to John and Harriett (Ward) Meyers. While attending Ottawa high school she met the love of her life. In 1962, she married Carl (Bumpy) D. Nicholson Jr. They were blessed with three children, Jeffrey S. Nicholson (deceased), Curtis B. Nicholson of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and Lisa L Nicholson of Utica, IL.
Sharon was a feisty and determined woman. She loved music, playing the piano, dancing, working in her yard, restoring antiques as well as old houses, and her favorite, feeding people. She had a passion and talent for decorating that could have placed any home in which she lived, inside an edition of Homes and Gardens. Above all those things, she loved her dogs. Seldom in her life was she without a furry companion at her side. Sharon was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She thrived on being busy, and during her lifetime she enthusiastically acted as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Blue Bird Leader, sold Avon and Tupperware, and worked many years in Walgreens. Wanting to turn another of her passions into a career, she attended the School of Beauty in Peru, IL, and in 1981, with the support of her husband Carl, she opened This is It hair salon. Sharon worked hard and ran a very successful business until she retired in 2012.
Sharon was led home by her husband, Carl “Bumpy” Nicholson, 1 brother, Donald Meyers, 1 sister, Betty Hickey, her parents, and 1 Grandson, Carl Martin Nicholson.
She leaves behind one son, Curtis Brian Nicholson of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and one daughter Lisa Linnea Nicholson of Utica, IL, and Tammy Nicholson of Seattle, WA.
She has 5 surviving siblings, Sandy Stone (Joe) of Ottawa, IL, Shirley Yednock of Lampasas, TX, Evelyn Aska of Sycamore, IL, Robert Meyers (Joanne) of Ardmore, OK. and Carol (Donald) Meyers of Utica. Also surviving Sharon are her 6 grandchildren, Joshua C Ludwig, Ottawa, IL, Leah S Nicholson of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Dr. Nichole R. Nicholson, Jacob S. Nicholson, and Brandt L. Nicholson, all of Puyallup, WA, and our special angel on earth, Chase L. Nicholson of Utica, IL.
Sharon has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
